The difference between porcelain clay and kaolin
1、 Different soil types
1. Porcelain clay
Porcelain clay refers to a kind of dry natural Aluminium silicate. It is called porcelain clay because it is used to make porcelain. Just like lazy pigments in colors and pigments, porcelain clay is primarily used as a low-cost additive or mixture.
2. Kaolin
Kaolin is a non-metallic mineral deposit, which is a kind of clay and clay rock dominated by Kaolinite group clay mineral deposits. Due to its white and delicate appearance, it is also known as Baiyun soil. It is named after Gaoling Village in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province.
2、 Different ingredients
1. Porcelain clay
The composition of pure porcelain clay is SiO ? 46.51%, Al ? O ? 39.54%, H ? O 13.95%, and the melting point is 1780 ℃.
2. Kaolin
The kaolin mineral deposits are composed of Kaolinite, dickite, pearl stone, halloysite and other Kaolinite cluster mineral deposits, and the primary mineral component is Kaolinite.
3、 Different uses
1. Porcelain clay
The plasticity, adhesion, certain drying strength, sintering ability, and whiteness of porcelain clay make it the primary raw material for ceramic production. It is used for manufacturing daily ceramics, architectural and sanitary ceramics, electrical ceramics, chemical corrosion-resistant ceramics, arts and crafts ceramics, and special ceramic ceramics.
2. Kaolin
Kaolin is widely used, primarily in papermaking, ceramics, and refractory materials, followed by coatings, rubber fillers, enamel glazes, and white cement raw materials. A small amount is used in plastic, paint, pigments, grinding wheels, pencils, daily cosmetics, soap, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, textiles, petroleum, chemical, building materials, national defense, and other industrial sectors.
