Kaolin is a non-metallic mineral, which is a kind of clay and clay rock dominated by Kaolinite group clay deposits. Due to its white and delicate appearance, it is also known as Baiyun soil. It is named after Gaoling Village in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province.

Pure kaolin is white, delicate and Mollisol like, with outstanding physical and chemical properties such as plasticity and fire resistance. Its mineral composition is mainly composed of Kaolinite, halloysite, hydromica, Illite, Montmorillonite, quartz, feldspar and other minerals.

Kaolin is widely used, primarily in papermaking, ceramics, and refractory materials, followed by coatings, rubber fillers, enamel glaze, and white cement materials, with a small amount used in plastics, paint, pigments, grinding wheels, pencils, etc.

1. Distributed in China

China's kaolin mineral resources rank among the top in the world, with 267 proven ore producing areas and 2.91 billion tons of Proven reserves, of which: China's non coal kaolin reserves rank the fifth in the world. The Proven reserves are 1.468 billion tons, and the main gathering places are in Guangdong, Shaanxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Jiangsu, accounting for 84.55% of the country's total reserves.

2. Spread abroad

International kaolin resources are abundant and widely distributed. The United States, Britain, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Australia, Russia and other countries have high-quality kaolin resources. Currently, the internationally recognized amount of kaolin resources is approximately 20.9 billion tons.
